# Espresso

An espresso is a strong black coffee with no dairy products involved. It can be made with a ratio of water to coffee in quantities of 1:2 to 1:2.5

For our coffee at Lake Safari Lodge, we use a 1:2 ratio, so 20g of coffee = 40mls of espresso. Why 40mls? See [Single VS Double Shots: The Complicated Reality](https://www.javapresse.com/blogs/espresso/single-vs-double-espresso-shots)
